The foundation stone for today's arena was laid in 2000 to mark the 100th anniversary of the German Football Association (DFB), which was once founded in Leipzig. It will be the new headquarters of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and will also house an eight-storey hotel with 348 rooms. The building stands out with its two slender structures, which are rotated off axis above the seven-storey buildings and offset against each other.
