Stuttgart 21 is one of the largest transportation and urban development projects in Europe. It includes not only the conversion of a terminus station into a through station, but also the construction of new connecting stations, railroad lines, tunnels and bridges. Construction began in 2010 and the project is due to open at the end of 2025.

The Nuremberg - Erfurt high-speed line is 190 km long and is an important section of the Scandinavian-Mediterranean corridor from Finland to Sicily. It is part of a European transport network that links all regions of the EU.
Stuttgart-Ulm rail project, Filstal bridge

As part of the extension of the Stuttgart - Ulm railroad line, the Filstal valley has to be crossed. Two partial bridges, each almost 500 m long and 85 m high, are currently being built. This makes the Filstal Bridge the third highest railroad bridge in Germany. The route is an important link in the European high-speed rail network.
