The foundation stone for today's arena was laid in 2000 to mark the 100th anniversary of the German Football Association (DFB), which was once founded in Leipzig. Around 47,000 spectators can be seated here for soccer matches. But the arena is also used for large concerts. Coldplay, Helene Fischer and Rammstein, among others, have performed here.
